Introducing Norvin Leeper

A blank sheet of paper and a #2 pencil. That was my first toy, and it was also my first love. My imagination would take over as the world faded away. That blank page, you see, is what has inspired me throughout everything I have ever done. Providing me with the ability to create something out of nothing.

Walt Disney said, “You can design and create, and build the most wonderful place in the world, but it takes people to make a dream a reality.” This quote inspired me to major in animation at Columbia College Chicago. I was fueled by the belief that I was the most creative person in the WORLD! I quickly learned an important lesson in humility. I changed gears and snagged a new sheet of paper.

Video editing is a process in which all of the puzzle pieces are present and the editor's manipulation of those pieces determines the outcome. OMG! I'd fallen in love... again. This time, however, I was prepared. I knew right away that this would be a collaborative effort involving people who think creatively. I continued to edit after graduation, working at various post-production companies, and have had a pretty wonderful career so far.

Nonetheless, I still enjoy finding that new clean white sheet of paper, like aftereffects and 3d animation. The toolbox continues to grow, as does the network of awesome people. I've learned that sharing my sheet of paper is preferable to keeping it to myself.
